Ali Redwine, was born in Detroit Motown City. Ali started his journey as an artist at the tender age of 6 years old, singing at Holy Temple Apostolic Church. Following in the footsteps of his mother, which until she began her family of five children, pursued a career in the music industry, “I remember listening to my mom's high soprano as a kid and being mesmerized” said Ali. After realizing that his mom gave up a career of fame for her children, this gave Ali even more drive to carry the torch that she’d left behind.Throughout grade school Ali participated in numerous neighborhood and school talent shows, but it wasn’t until high school that Ali realized that music was what defined him, and that no other career would quench his thirst for stardom. While in high school Ali started a four member group, “Sevun”. Ali stood out as the lead singer of the group. He also found producers, booked the shows and wrote the songs. During Ali’s junior year in high school he joined a gospel group called "Chemistry" headed by Antun Foster: writer, producer and pianist that had worked with legends like Be Be and Ce Ce Winans, the Clarke Sisters, 702 and Puff Daddy. This is where Ali met Sara Stokes from MTV’s Makin the Band. “AIi is so talented, I don’t think Ali knows the incredible impact he is going to make on this industry.” Sara writes. They immediately connected and eventually started a duo. Before the duo took off Ali decided that after a weekend visit to New York, he had to relocate from Detroit to NYC.At 21 Ali left Detroit in sight of a successful singing, dancing, and writing career. This is where he really began to find himself as an artist. After being in New York for only 1 month, Ali managed to work with producer to Mary J. Blige, Zhane, Alure and Erica Badu, Ike Lee. Ali wrote to the soulful hip hop production of Ike for over a year, creating a very original edgy yet sensual sound Ali calls his own. While singing was Ali’s first passion, he also shared a love of hip hop dance and began to focus on this aspect of his career. Ali says “I felt like I needed to become a full entertainer, a triple threat of sorts...you can’t just stand on stage and sing.” he laughs. Through a friend Ali met Violet Galagarza: a choreographer and Alvin Ailey dancer which heads the dance company KR3Ts. After only a short talk she invited him to join. “She said she was taken by my voice and my humbleness.” Not only did they become like family but she booked his very first stage performance and many more dancing and singing in New York City. It felt like he finally started to see his dream. To Ali’s credit he has wowed audiences on tour with Karen Clarke Sheard, danced with Wade Robson of MTV’s Wade Robson Project, Nickelodeon and the internationally known dance camp Jacob’s Pillow. “I am committed to becoming the best artist that I can be. I live, and breathe my music, and I will die loving and chasing it.” Some of Ali’s greatest influences include Stevie Wonder, Karen Clarke Sheard, Brandy and Babyface.QUOTES” Watch out Genuine, here comes Ali.” (Sara Stokes, Makin’ the Band)“Ali is ambitious, sincere and dedicated to his craft. His soulful tenor speaks for itself.” (Violet Galagarza choreographer of KR3Ts Dance Company)“Every once in a blue moon an artist arrives on the music scene that possesses the kind of talent that changes music and its listeners, I think now is that time” (Antun Foster producer and composer)“Ali sings as well as he dances, great!” (The Village Voice-Weekly New York Newspaper)
